Camping Tips

Camping is really a fun making activity for all ages no matter whether we go to campground or out in the backyard. Everyone can enjoy camping by proper preparation. Preparation is the most essential component for having a successful trip. Camping will give lot fun filled memories but if it is not properly planned then it can be a disaster. To prepare for camping the first and foremost thing is to decide where to go and what facilities are available at the site and what one should carry with them.

Before we head out for an anticipated camping trip we need to gather some camping tips to enhance our camping experience. The following tips will be very useful for the people who are debut to camping trips:

* The first and foremost point to consider is one should never venture into a forest in unfamiliar territories without proper maps or guides as even frequent campers and hunters had some unpleasant experiences at those places.

* Always one go for the first time camping select an established campground, and even woods but close enough to civilization at the time of emergency.

* When we walk through along bushes and hard surface we must always wear boots, long pants and long sleeves shirt as there may be poisonous plants which may cause itches and oozing rashes.

* When camping in high altitudes one should drink plenty of water i.e. a minimum of three to five bottles a day so as to avoid dehydration and high altitude sickness like headaches, muscle cramps etc.

* One should take proper care in food consumption. Beware of food poisoning as contaminated food can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. To prevent from food poisoning we should wash our hands before handling food, smell the food and if does not smell right throw it and do not eat. It is better to overcook than undercook, serve the cooked food immediately.

* Always carry plenty of sun protection items and go with a good hat as heat exhaustion can cause disorientation like shadowy vision, dizziness and weakness while in the forest.

* While hiking or hill walking always walk in the centre of the path in order to avoid walk on trailside plants as some of the plants are extremely sensitive to foot traffic.

* While tenting proper care should be taken on setting up the camp. Always camp on well-drained sandy or rocky surfaces and places with soft humus. Avoid camping on places that are exposed to wild weather. Always camp at lower elevations duly protected and surrounded by rocks, trees and bushes.

* Proper care should be given for campfire and always remember campfire should be set up far away from the tent or any other inflammable material.

Always use clear plastic bags for the food and other items which reduces the weight of carrying and same plastic bags can used later as trash accumulation.

Finally the last thing for the campers to carry is photographs as no matter where we go we need to leave nothing but foot prints.
