Motorcycle camping

Motorcycle camping trips are very different from any other type of traveling. There is a major difference in the way you travel, you sleep, what you pack and all in all, how you view the entire experience of camping. Motorcycle camping is much more challenging than regular camping as a lot of meticulous planning is involved. The most important thing about motorcycle camping is where you camp at night; while you have fun and enjoy yourself, it is important to keep safety in mind as well. Another major part of motorcycle camping is what you pack in your gear. It is very difficult to travel with a lot of baggage when you are traveling on a motorcycle. Hence before you set out for motorcycle camping, you need to make a list of the bare necessities, and carry only those.

As is apparent, motorcycle camping is not meant for everyone. Hence, before you plan out a trip, make sure that you are up for the challenge. In a nutshell, motorcycle camping is not meant for those people who are weak at heart. Embark on this ride only if you are looking for some hardcore adventure.

Having made up your mind, the next thing to do is plan your trip. First part of the plan comprises of where you want to go, and the second part of the plan comprises of deciding how to get there. Based on these two principle deciding factors, you can identify the gears you need to pack. If you are visiting your destination for the first time, then it is better to check out the place, well in advance. Make sure that there is a motor able trail leading up to your final destination and also whether the place has a service station in its vicinity. If not then you would do good to pack some extra gas and also some spare parts.

Having done the preliminaries, make sure that you have a checklist of the items that you will need for your motorcycle camping trip. The mantra here is to make sure that you pack light but at the same time you pack everything you will need.

Also anticipate the weather changes and take adequate precautions regarding the same. While packing makes sure that you pack gears which are meant for all weather. Some motorcycle gloves can handle the heat as well as the cold easily. Bring along clothes that you can wear in layers, so that you can remove or add to your ensemble as and when the weather changes. Do not forget to carry waterproof suits that you can drape over your jackets, and pants; these are of utmost importance when caught in a heavy downpour.

Also Plan the place where you are going to camp at night; not all campgrounds welcome motorcycle campers. This is because there is a general notion about bikers being a loud and rowdy lot. It is best to call in advance and enquire about the campgrounds where you intend to halt.
