Great rustic camping in one of Virginia WMA's

This area is part of the Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area, operated by the State of Virginia DWR ( Department of Wildlife Resources). There are several pull off areas to park ( and Or camp). Camping itself is free with certain restrictions. You must have a valid license to hunt, fish, trap or purchase an access permit in order to use the WMA areas. You can add a 14 day permit to your cart and check out, print the permit or download the app, that will show your permit and licensure. There is no electric, or water hookups in ANY of the WMA's and the areas can vary from nearly vacant, to very active in certain times of the year. Remember, you are camping in a area reserved for hunting, they just also allow base rugged camping. Some WMA's including Chickahominy have water access ( a boat dock and landing here gives access to Morris Creek and to the west, the Chickahominy River. The water is brackish , leaning more towards fresh water. Great area for bird viewing, boat/kayak fishing and small game hunting. It is very secluded in late winter/early spring.
