About Stratton Brook State Park
Stratton Brook's proximity to the Hartford area makes it one of the better known small parks in Connecticut, but it is only a few miles from the city of Hartford and a short drive from Hartford State Park.
Originally known as the Massacoe State Forest, it was acquired to demonstrate control of wildfires along the railroad tracks. The railway tracks have been replaced by an impressive cycle path shaded by white pine trees leading to a picturesque stream. In 1996, the park became the first state park in Connecticut to be fully wheelchair accessible.
