About Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve

The salt marshes of the Gulf of Mexico have given way to the scrub of the Cedar Key State, which offers a unique blend of tropical and subtropical plants, animals and species. The undergrowth is dominated by the palm tree, which can be seen from the coast, and a few miles away on the east coast of Florida.

The swamps are ideal for canoeing and kayaking, and canoes or kayaks can be rented in the town of Cedar Key. Hikers and road cyclists who want to experience the mosaic of Florida's habitats will find this experience on the park's miles of paths and winds. The park has picnic shelters, tables and barbecues, as well as a number of picnic areas for picnics and other outdoor activities.

The hotel is located in the town of Cedar Key, south of the main entrance to the park on the east side of Lake Okeechobee. Florida State Parks is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends.

The reserve covers an area of 6,500 square meters and covers 2,200 square kilometers of land.

The trails are mainly used for hiking, but are also suitable for cycling and horseback riding, as well as for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

The reserve uses existing jeep tracks for multi-purpose trails, which are about four kilometers on the eastern side of the reserve and about six kilometers on the western side.
