About Mounds State Park
Mounds State Park is east of Anderson and I-69 is home to 10 unique earthworks built by the famous Adena and Hopewell people. The largest hill, the Great Hill, was probably built in 160 BC, and archaeological research seems to suggest that it was used as a meeting place for religious ceremonies.
If you have time to visit the new nature center, make sure you visit the Mounds State Park Visitor Center to see the park. The new building includes a visitor centre, picnic area and outdoor amphitheatre, as well as a café, picnic tables and other amenities.
