About Mini Wakan State Park

Iowa has a huge variety of outdoor activities throughout the year, and some of the state's most popular parks, such as Iowa State Park and Minnehaha National Forest, offer truly wonderful outdoor recreation.

This is the beautiful Gull Point State Park, founded in 1933 and one of the most popular campsites in Iowa State. The campsite is well shaded, has a paved road to the campsite, a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic benches and a large picnic table, as well as many picnic areas for picnics and tent activities. At GULL Point there is a wide range of campsites, from small to large, with a wide range of possibilities for camping and hiking. Gully Point offers a well-rounded variety including campfires, fireplaces, campfires, picnics, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, boating and much more.

There are 112 campsites, 60 of which have electricity and about half are still referred to as "first come, first serve." Reservations for each campsite can be made online at the Gull Point State Park website or by calling 1-888-745-4357.

Gull Point beach is a great place for young and old to sunbathe and splash in the crystal clear waters. West Okoboji and many other lakes are some of the best fishing spots in Iowa and anglers will find a challenging sport that follows a variety of wild fish, including bluefish, redfish, whitefish and other fish species.

Gull Point is a great place for family picnics and several open shelters are available or can be reserved by the park manager for a fee.

Built in 1930 by the Civilian Conservation Corp., Gull Point Lodge is the largest such facility in the state. The lodge is available on a reservation basis from the park manager and can accommodate up to 140 people. It has a kitchen and is a great place for family picnics and other outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and camping.

From the parking lot of the lodge visitors can see a variety of natural beauties, as well as from the main entrance to the park. The hiking pleasure is fine on the self-guided trails, and visitors can also hike and cycle along the trails to have a scenic experience.

In winter the area is open for cross-country skiing and it is an excellent place to watch the roe deer.
