About Meade State Park

This oasis in the Short Grairie region of the state is bordered by the Mississippi, the Great Lakes and the Missouri River. The park includes a 1.5 km long pathway system surrounded by a 3,000 foot long, 1,500 hectare lake. Nature trails offer visitors access to a wide range of wild flowers, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, as well as a wide range of wildlife.

The proximity to the Great Lakes and the Missouri River, as well as the natural beauty of the area, make this area a popular destination. It is a major tourist attraction with a wide range of activities and activities for children.

Skiing and recreational boating are not permitted, and boats are only allowed for fishing, but the lake invites anglers to try kayaking, canoeing, fishing and other recreational activities.

The adjacent wilderness area, which is only a few hectares in size, offers good opportunities for pigeon and quail hunters. Deer, turkeys, rabbits and squirrels also live in the area and occasionally offer hunters a colourful mix, which can only be hunted with a muzzle - loaded weapons such as a rifle or shotgun.

The park is 17 miles away, but you have to be 7 miles from the park to cross the Cimarron Bridge. Turn left on County Road V, turn right on Meade Lake Road and continue south on Highway 54 until the flashing lights are up. Head east on Highway 54 to the top of the hill where the fast lane ends and turn left into the parking lot of the park and leisure center, about one mile south.

Turn south on Highway 23 and drive 3 miles to Meade Lake Road, about 1 mile south of the park and recreation center. The lake has a parking lot at the north end And you have to drive 8 miles Direction south to the lake and turn right onto Kreisstraße V.
