Fishermen can also try their luck with perch, crab and catfish, but some of the best whaling in New Mexico is in Ute Lake State Park, north of Santa Fe.
With its countless bays to explore, the lake is teeming with ducks, quails, pigeons and pheasants. Deer and antelopes roam the surrounding plains and mesas, as well as the waterfalls, lakes and ponds of Ute Lake.
Round-the-clock fishing is available for fishing enthusiasts every day of the year, and the lake produces several state-certified wild fish. Ute Lake State Park is located on the west side of US Highway 80, south of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
