About Stony Brook State Park
The Stony Brook State Park grounds are made up of rolling forests, rugged cliffs towering over three waterfalls, and rugged rock formations. Visitors can walk along the edge of the gorge and nature trails, play tennis in the parking lot, swim in the electric swimming pool or hike, cycle or cross-country ski on the hiking trails.
In winter, skiers have a variety of opportunities for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding, as well as a number of ski slopes.
In winter, winter hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding are allowed. Stony Brook State Park has only one landfill site, which borders the New York State Forest Service and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
