About Buckhorn Island State Park
Buckhorn Island State Park, a once-vast wetland meadow bordered by the Niagara River, has been designated a park sanctuary.
The park is being restored with the aim of restoring the wetland cover and water level and increasing the diversity of native flora and fauna. Part of the rehabilitation plan is to improve access to the Niagara River, its water and wildlife. The public is welcome to hike the nature trails and picnic in Buckhorn Island State Park and other parks in the area.
