Hudson Highlands State Park is a separate park that stretches from Annsville Creek in Peekskill to Dennings Point in Beacon in the north and is one of the largest parks in the state of New York. The Hudson Highlands and Hudson River offer many activities to enjoy here, including hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, kayaking, rafting and kayaking, as well as a variety of other outdoor activities.

Hudson Highland has a number of hiking trails, picnic areas, a nature centre and a picnic area.

The extensive network of hiking trails in the park includes a varied terrain, ranging from easy to challenging. Hiking maps are available on the Hudson Highlands State Park website and on the New York State Parks website.

Newsweek ranked Breakneck Ridge as one of the 10 most popular hiking trails in New York State Park and the second best in the state.

Note: Camping and the use of fire are prohibited in the park, as are burning of camper equipment, tents and other camping equipment.

For visitors who want to see the picturesque park from the water, kayaks and canoes are available for rent. Rental, training, tours and educational programs are offered by Atlantic Kayak Tours. Visitors can also start their own kayak or canoe at Annsville jetty, and fishing on the jetty is also allowed.

The American entrepreneur Frank Bannerman VI, who built it between 1901 and 1918, is home to a majestic landmark on the Hudson River. Originally known as Pollepel Island, the island was entered in the National Register of Historic Places. Highlands can only be entered and explored by water on guided tours.
