About Buttermilk Falls State Park
Buttermilk Falls State Park takes its name from the steep valley on the shores of Cayuga Lake from which the Buttermilk Creek flows. The upper park has a long history of hiking trails through the forest to the edge of the gorge, as well as a number of waterfalls.
The lower park has a larch meadow that doubles as a campground, pool and playground, and houses the Buttermilk Canyon Trail and a number of hiking trails. From July 4th until Labor Day, there are weekly park activities, including guided tours of the canyon, as well as a picnic area and picnic tables.
