About Cape Blanco State Park

The lighthouse and historic house are open from April to October, and an extra large private protected campsite serves as a base while you enjoy the lighthouse and historic Hughes House tour.

The Hughes House tour is free and is run by knowledgeable volunteers, but donations are welcome and help to fund the restoration and upkeep of the house. The lighthouse tour, run by the Bureau of Land Management, costs $10 for adults and $5 for children under 5.

The rest of the park, including campsites, is open all year round and Cape Blanco is accessible to all. Proposed in 1864, it was the first lighthouse in the state to be fitted with a first-order Fresnel lens in 1870. The first applied lens was replaced in 1936 by a second one - an applied lens and then in 1953 by its successor, the modern Fresnel.

Group camps can accommodate up to 24 vehicles and can accommodate a maximum of 50 people, and each group camp can accommodate 24 vehicles. Bring a horse or picnic while hiking, picnicking or enjoying the scenic views of Cape Blanco State Park from the park's campgrounds.

Each camp has a maximum of 24 vehicles and a minimum of 50 people per camp, and the total number of campers can be five or more. If you expect more than one camper to be accommodated in one or two group camps, please call the park for more information.
