About Big Ridge State Park

Big Ridge State Park is one of five demonstration parks developed by the Tennessee Valley Authority as part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park System. It is located on the east side of Big Ridge Road, south of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and is heavily wooded. Before the park was founded, the area was densely populated and used for agriculture, and it was the site of a large farm and home to a number of cattle and sheep farms.

Other notable features of the park include the Norton Gristmill, built in 1825, which has been preserved, and Indian Rock, where a plaque commemorates the burial of an Indian at his grave.

Each hall has a small kitchen with stove, oven and refrigerator and can accommodate up to 70 people, depending on the seating. The park has two main rooms, one in the main building and one in a separate building.

The cottages have parquet floors and are screened - on verandas, and there is no air conditioning, but each bedroom has its own bathroom and a small kitchen with hob, oven, refrigerator and hob.

The five huts are on the shore of the lake, and fourteen are combed through with ridges, one on each side of the creek and one in the middle.
