The North Bend Rail Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Washington state and a popular tourist attraction. The trail is suitable for mountain bikers, hikers and horse riding, but motorised vehicles are not allowed.

With just 3 gradients, the Rail Trail is ideal for all levels and the only abandoned B & O rail corridor in Washington state.

This section of the rail corridor was built by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and required numerous bridges and tunnels due to the terrain. Of the 13 tunnels, 10 of which will run through North Bend State Park, there are three that the railroad has abandoned but can still be visited along the way.

Even more fantastic is the fact that tunnel number 19 shows a picture of a young woman in white telling the story of the Silver Run Tunnel. It is a natural tunnel drilled through massive rock through raw rock and is one of only a handful of natural tunnels in the entire state of Oregon.

North Bend is located in the Northwest of the state and is located on the four-lane US 50, which runs from Parkersburg to Clarksburg through the center and Northwest Virginia. For more information, call North Bend State Park at 1-800-WVA-1 or head east on US-50 to the intersection of WV-31 for 21 miles.
