The graceful water that flows down the Kern River attracts people from near and far, and the sections are ideal for those who enjoy good, non-stop paddling, which is easily possible in the afternoon. The average white water rafting or kayaking on the river tends to be a little more difficult than the average river trip in California, so it's worth remembering that many descents in this state are not easy. This section is a great place to enjoy a good non-stop paddle that can have to do with a problematic afternoon, but if you activate your paddle muscles and have the opportunity to spend some time outdoors, you will be glad you had to come.

This section of Kern River in Kern County is 7 miles long and is equivalent to Class II or III according to American whitewater. This stretch between Isabella and Sandy Flat is a great place for white water paddling here in the southern Sierra Nevada. Paddling in the whitewater here, along with the other sections on the river, and the steep descents in this section are great experiences.

For people who want to go white water rafting or kayaking, the starting point is not far from Bakersfield and there are many good places to go. The campsites here on the Kern River are pretty good, but if you are not familiar with the area, please see the map below.
