About Bald Point State Park

Bald Point is located at Alligator Point, where Ochlockonee Bay meets Apalachees Bay, at the southern end of the State Park, and offers a variety of land and water activities. The swamp pine and oak forests support a variety of biological communities, making Bald Point State Park one of the most biodiverse parks in Florida. This park is located in the northern part of Tallahassee, near the intersection of Interstate 10 and I-75.

Other activities include canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and hiking, and facilities include a fishing pier and picnic pavilion. Bald Point offers a variety of water activities including boating, swimming, fishing and kayaking, as well as a number of hiking trails.

Bird lovers can see many breeding and migratory birds on the bare spot, and bird lovers of all ages flock to Bald Point to watch the many birds. On the east side of the State Park, south of Bald Island, Bald Point is located on State Road 370, which is two miles from BaldPoint Road. This includes a 2.5-mile loop around the park and a 1.2-mile loop from the parking lot to the beach.

Swimming and sunbathing is a popular activity on the sandy beach, and there are also gazebos, barbecues and toilets. Bald Point offers access to two beaches in Apalachee Bay, but please do not bring pets to the beach.

Canoeing and kayaking are popular activities, and canoe or kayak launches are available at Bald Point State Park in Apalachee Bay at the mouth of the Ochlockonee River.

Surfing and visiting oyster banks is a popular pastime, and redfish, trout, flounder and mackerel can be found in the brackish waters, including redfish and trout, as well as other fish species such as bluefish and snapper.

On the beach there are two covered gazebos, a picnic area with picnic tables and benches, as well as a picnic table and a bar on the beach.

Walk along the side streets to experience the seasonal wildflowers and birds, or go on foot or bike to the beach. Drive approximately two miles from the park entrance and turn left onto Bald Point Road.

Turn left onto SR 370 and drive approximately 3 km to a parking lot on the south side of the road.

Take Highway 98 to SR-370, then turn right onto State Route 370 before turning left onto Bald Point Road and driving a few miles until you exit at the entrance to Baldpoint State Park.
