About Wakulla Springs State Park

The park is home to a variety of wildlife including alligators, turtles, deer and birds and is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities. Nature trails offer leisurely walks through the highland forests of the park, daily guided riverboat tours offer a close-up view of the wildlife and swimming Is another popular activity during the hot summer months. With clear water, the glass-bottomed boats offer scenic views of Lake Okeechobee and the Florida Panhandle, as well as the state's largest lake.

Wakulla Springs Lodge was built in 1937 by financier Edward Ball and is open year-round. The lodge's meeting facilities provide an excellent retreat and the full service dining room overlooks the spring. To reserve a meeting room, call the park at (904) 662-5555 or (888) 542-4357. Wakulla Springs State Park Lodge is a National Natural Monument and is on the Register of Historic Sites.

The only lodge in the park, Wakulla Springs State Park Lodge is located on the west side of Wakulla Creek, south of the main entrance to the national park.

Enjoy excellent cuisine and wonderful views through the arched windows of the ballroom restaurant. The dining room is open for breakfast from 07: 30 until 10: 00 and lunch is served from 11: 30 until 12: 00. It serves many local favourites, including fried chicken, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy and a variety of other dishes.

Swimming is only allowed in designated bathing areas at the springs, but the observation tower and diving tower on the headland offer a magnificent view of the spring.

From SR 61, keep left on SR 267 and turn right at the flashing light next to the entrance to the park. Turn left at the flash unit onto SR267, then right onto the exit for SR-61, then left onto the motorway and exit the SR.

From SR 61 turn left onto SR and continue onto SR-61 to Tallahassee for 10 miles, then onto I-10 westbound for a few miles to the park entrance and exit for SR 267.

Turn right at the park entrance and turn left onto SR 267 and then right onto I-10 westbound for a few miles.
