About River Rise Preserve State Park

The Santa Fe River has reappeared in Leno State Park and continues to flow below it for more than a mile and a half from its original source. Surrounded by a quiet forest with huge trees, anglers can spend relaxing afternoons fishing on the river.

Hiking and wildlife watching are also a popular pastime for park visitors, as are fishing and kayaking on the river.

Riders can explore the 20 km long hiking trails and end the day on their horse campsite or explore the 20 km long hiking trail. The horse camp is located at the entrance of the park and has 20 stables, which are available according to the principle of "first - come - first." River Rise State Park is entered through the main entrance gate on the north side of the river, and entrance fees for the horse show are included in the park entrance fee. The riding and camping fees are to be paid in advance at the O.R.O.S.P. campsite and Horse Camp, or by paying the riding or camping fees.

The negative rack required for camping O.R.O.S.P. and Horse Camp must be the same size as the horse camp and stable in the park, with a minimum size of 2.5 m.

Leno State Park is located in Leno County, North Carolina, north of the state capital of Charlotte. The entrance to the River Rise Preserve State Park, the only one of its kind in the United States, is located at the entrance to the River Rise Rise, about 1.5 miles south of downtown Charlotte, NC.

In the 1500s and 1700s, this natural land bridge served as a bridge between the Santa Fe River and the Suwannee River, the largest river in North Carolina. The river was flung to the surface at the end of the 19th century when it continued its flow from the Suwanee. Even today, it runs underground and disappears in Leno State Park, but reappears in River Rise Preserve State Park.

Spanish explorers, Indians and settlers alike used this natural bridge as a means of transport between their homes and their land. River Rise has a covered gazebo that can be rented for the day or reserved for special events such as picnics, hikes, fishing or camping. The park has a centrally located bathhouse and picnic area, as well as picnic tables.

River Rise has about 20 miles of riding trails, and each trail leads to a variety of plant communities. The paths lead to unique attractions such as the River Rise Bridge, the Great River Bridge and the Red River Bridge.

For more information, please contact the Park Office at (386) 454-1853 or your parking department. Daily horse riding tournaments are payable to the O.C. Parks and Recreation Department or the River Rise Preserve State Park Office.

Pets must be kept under the physical control of a person, on a leash or otherwise and may not be tied to trees, shrubs, tables or shelters unless the owner is present. Pets tied to a campsite may not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes, but the snake may not exceed 1.50 meters.

Pets must be accommodated in a dog friendly area of the park, such as picnic table, picnic area or shelter, and must behave well at all times.

Animals that are noisy, dangerous, intimidating or destructive must not stay in the park and must be locked up. Pet owners are obliged to collect their animals and dispose of their droppings properly in bins.

Animals may not be kept on the grounds of the park and pets are not allowed in cabins, and violations of this rule may result in campers being asked to remove the animal from the park or leave the campsite. Animals such as dogs, cats, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits and other animals are prohibited and may not be kept in the parking lot of a campground or other campgrounds within the National Park.

Summer brings hot weather and family vacations, so check the parking lots for pet suitability. In order to provide visitors with a high-quality recreational experience, the number of areas in the park that are considered "prohibited pets" is determined at the discretion of the park manager.

If pets are parked in the car, they must leave the car even with the window open, but on hot days ten minutes can be too long. Pets are influenced by the temperature of the parking lot as well as other factors such as wind speed, humidity and temperature.

Pets don't sweat like humans, so you don't need to give your dog a heat stroke, but cool your pants.

If only very hot air is available to breathe, your pet could suffer permanent brain damage and die if emergency care is not provided. If your dog suffers from heat exhaustion, you can suck it in and take it to the emergency room. It is much friendlier to leave a pet with you, but you may want to come along.
