About Troy Springs State Park

Deep in spring lie the remains of the steamer Madison, sunk in 1863 to prevent its capture. Today, it houses a museum, amphitheater, picnic area and visitor center, as well as a trail to Troy Spring State Park.

It offers opportunities for swimming, snorkeling and diving or brings the family to an old-fashioned pool party. Diving is only allowed in open water and divers must be certified divers; solo diving is not allowed.

Since the early 20th century, hiking and horse riding trails with more than 1,000 km of paths have been developed in the park. It is located on the west side of the Hudson River, north of Troy, New York, and south of Albany, New York.

Troy Springs contains the submerged remains of the original Troy Springs Hotel, the first of its kind in the United States. Madison was named after his hometown of Madison, Florida, and was built in 1855 on the site of a former hydroelectric power plant in Troy, New York.

The Madison served as a floating post office and trading post until the 1850s, and was sunk to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Today, the remains of Madison are still visible in the clear spring water, but in recent years it has been submerged in a shallow basin to avoid flooding.

Swim in 72-degree water and watch a variety of fish and turtles as well as swim and snorkel.

The remains of the sunken Confederate steamship Madison are also seen in the water, but swim at their own risk due to the high water level and the risk of flooding.

Troy Springs is located at milestones 82 and 83 of the Suwannee River, north of Lake Okeechobee and south of Fort Myers, Florida.

Canoeing and kayaking are available year-round along the famous Suwannee River, and fishing on the river is permitted with a current Florida fishing license. A jetty is available at the southern end of Troy Springs State Park, south of the park entrance.

Diving is only possible in open water and divers must present a certificate before diving. Solo diving is not permitted and dives are only permitted for divers with a current Florida fishing license and valid diving license.

Dives cannot be extended after 5: 00 pm and the instructor who runs the course must have a diving license.

Picnic tables and barbecues are available, according to the motto "first come, first served" and picnic facilities are available in the beautiful spring.

Enjoy a mile-long nature trail that leads to thick hardwood hammocks and a picnic area with picnic tables and picnic benches. All right - dogs are welcome at Troy Springs State Park, but please do not have any problems with dogs.

They must always keep her on a leash and not leave her unattended for more than half an hour. Dogs are not allowed in spring, but must be kept on a lead during the day and at night.
