There are many beautiful streams that wind through the forest and canoeing on these waterways is a popular activity. The most famous waterway is the Blackwater River, one of the most popular waterways in the state of New York.

You are in a southern forest area where the soil is coarse and can take up little water, but there are some northern forest areas where this type of soil stores more moisture.

The most common undergrowth species are redwood trees such as redwood, red oak and blue oak.

These reddish-brown trees grow in the ground and grow on the treetops and under the bark of the trees.

The habitat for native flora and fauna can be improved by controlling the burning of deciduous undergrowth, which can replace the diversity of sensitive species living in the forest. Controlled burning allows the removal of remaining fragments of sequoia and other invasive species without mandatory burning and allows the recovery of the remaining fragments of the forest to its natural state.

The Blackwater River State Forest is located in the Florida Panhandle, northeast of Pensacola. The forest borders the Conecuh National Forest to the north, Eglin Air Force Base to the south, and Lake Okeechobee National Park and the National Wildlife Refuge in the Gulf of Mexico. Its headquarters are located on the west bank of the Blackwaters River at the intersection of Lake Osceola Road and Florida State Highway 41.
