About Vogel State Park

The bird is particularly popular in autumn, when the Blue Ridge Mountains are autumn and visitors come from the south. Hikers can choose from a variety of trails, including the popular Bird Trail, a 2.5 km loop through the park and a 1000 foot path to the top of the mountain. It is located on the eastern edge of Vogel State Park, south of Asheville, North Carolina.

Cabins, campsites and primitive backpacker sites offer a range of accommodation as well as a variety of hiking and camping opportunities for hikers, campers and mountain bikers.

The 22-hectare lake in the park is open to non-motorized boats, and in summer visitors can cool off on the picturesque beaches surrounding the lake.

Follow the green access road that leads to a junction with a white-burnt road and follow it to the main path of the park.

During the warmer months, there are plenty of wildflowers and you can join several hiking trails in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Start at the Backcountry Trailhead and follow the yellow - burnt Coosa Back Country Trail, which begins its 2.5 km walk along with the green - burnt access trail.

From 3,000 feet, hikers climb 1 mile up and down to the ridge and then climb another 1 mile to a peak of 2,500 feet, totaling 4 miles.

From the Backcountry Trailhead, follow the green-burnt access road and the glowing Bear Hair Gap Trail, which itself leads to a nearly 4-kilometer loop that leads you up to the lower ridge of Blood Mountain. For more information, see "Precautions on the Bear Gap Trail" in the Chattahoochee National Forest Trail Guide.

The trail leaves the park and leads to the Chattahoochee National Forest, which is open for hunting, so it is advisable to wear the colors during hunting season. When the foliage falls, you can enjoy distant views and wildflowers abound seasonally, but it's advisable not to overdo it - dress for the weather.

This route leads to an earth dam built by the CCC in 1935, and you can reach the trail to Lake Trahlyta for a picnic. A spur path behind the dam leads to a viewing platform near its outlet and a path along the shore of the lake.

A bridge over the dam flows into the lake, which is flooded by a bridge for the dam, and a path along the shore of Lake Trahlyta for a picnic.

Camping in the hinterland along the Coosa Trail is permitted with permission, but all sites are available on a first - come, first served basis. The easy walk leads from the main entrance of the park on the south side of Lake Trahlyta to the shore of the lake.

The Backcountry Trail crosses several streams and leads to other water sources, but the purity of the water source cannot be guaranteed, and rangers can and will claim violations of rules, regulations, or damage to resources. It is advisable to treat the water collected from springs before use; the practice is encouraged to help others to preserve others. Just take a picture or a memory and leave only a trace; you don't have to leave the only trace.

To be safe, always pay attention to your surroundings and do not camp in or near dead trees, rocks, debris or other non-native vegetation.

Be aware of rapidly changing weather conditions such as strong winds, rain, snow and thunderstorms. Beware of biting insects, spiders, snakes, scorpions, moths and other dangerous creatures.

Even dogs that have separated from their owners can spoil your trip by eating unprotected food. Leave at least one route with someone you can trust and help you if you become incapacitated or overdue. Travel with a potential friend, but only if he travels with you and you can trust him to help you.

Always take enough time to make your trip, never deviate from the marked route and always visit your hotel at least 30 minutes before departure. Mobile phones should not be used in mountainous terrain; mobile phones should always be used in the shade of a tree or tree. Any person who acts negligently or does not obtain permission to use these pages may be charged with trespassing and search and rescue costs according to OCGA 12 - 3 - 10.
