About Black Rock Mountain State Park

Black Rock Mountain is the highest national park in Georgia and is located in the Black Rock Mountains in Georgia, north of Atlanta, Georgia. It includes BlackRock Mountain State Park, which takes its name from its location on the top of the mountain, several other state parks, and a number of national parks and national monuments.

The summit visitor center and picnic tables are popular with travelers from northeastern Georgia.

Several hiking trails lead visitors to the top of Black Rock Mountain and its numerous vantage
points, which offer views of the city of Atlanta, the Georgia State Capitol and the Chattahoochee River. The path is classified as "very steep" and in places quite steep, but offers day hikes and backpacking tents.

Located in the northernmost part of the park, the trail offers views of Black Rock Mountain and the surrounding mountain range, as well as the Chattahoochee River. The trail leads over a waterfall and a waterfall to the bay and on to bays with views of the city of Atlanta and its numerous lookout points. It rises to 2,000 feet above sea level and offers views of Lake Champlain and the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Camping is permitted at four designated campsites (see map for exact location), and camping is also possible in the parking lot of Black Rock Mountain State Park.

The loop around picturesque Black Rock Lake is the youngest in the park's path system and is classified as a gently rolling 0.85-mile loop.

A wooden bridge crosses two waterfalls that flow into Black Rock Lake, allowing anglers to view the beautiful blue-green waters of the lake and the Michigan Lake and Great Smoky Mountains.

Several tables along shady Taylor Creek also invite you to picnic by the creek. The Ada Hi - Falls Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Black Rock Mountain State Park.

At the end of the trail is the Ada Hi - Falls Trail, the first of its kind in Black Rock Mountain State Park.

One of the park's most popular trails is the yellow Tennessee Rock Trail, which winds through the park's highest and most lush forest. This path leads to a series of rocky, plaited rocks - overgrown rocks overlooking Tennessee and the Tennessee River.

The brown signpost to Mountain City overlooks Black Rock Mountain State Park and the Tennessee River, which is located on the east side of the park north of BlackRock City.
