About Oconee State Park

Oconee State Park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935 and still exhibits the craftsmanship of the CCC in the preservation of buildings and masonry. On the park's 1,165 hectares, visitors can enjoy leisure facilities including hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking, as well as a variety of outdoor activities. This popular inland park is located at the foot of the South Carolina Foothills Mountains, north of Asheville. It also serves as the terminus of an 85-mile "Foothill Trail" that crosses the state's crown and ends in Jones Gap State Park.

Oconee has six nature trails that originate in the park and a circular trail within its borders. The Hidden Mountain Trail, part of the Foothills Trail System, is a trail that starts in the parks and leads to the US Forest Service facilities.

The park is an access point to the Foothills Trail, and the Hidden Mountain Trail connects the park to the US Forest Service facilities in Oconee.

Take Exit 1 of Highway 11 in Valhalla and drive in this direction for approximately 10 miles and turn off the dirt road onto Highway 107. Drive to Valhalla, and the park is 3 miles from the Rt, turn right onto Rd. Turn right onto the highway and continue on the road to Oconee State Park and Park.
