About High Falls State Park
High Falls became a ghost town in the 1880s when a large railroad bypassed it. At the beginning of the 19th century, the city was a thriving city with about 1,000 inhabitants and an average income of $2,500 per year.
Today, visitors can walk through the remains of the watermill and enjoy the picturesque waterfalls of Towaliga. Camping, picnic areas and canoe rentals are also available; this beautiful park in Central Georgia is conveniently located off I-75 and is a relaxing getaway for travelers.
For safety reasons, swimming is only allowed in the pool, and the numerous rocks that sink into the river have deep holes that can easily enclose or injure someone.
