About Magnolia Springs State Park
Magnolia Springs State Park is known for its springs, which flow 7.9 million gallons of water daily, and for its beautiful promenades that stretch across the cool waters. During the warmer months, visitors can look for alligators, turtles and other wildlife in the springs.
A 28 hectare lake and walking trails are available for fishing and boating, and there are numerous picnic blankets and tables.
During the Civil War, the site was called Camp Lawton and served as a camp for prisoners. The earth-coloured nipples that guarded the prison cells are still visible, as are the remains of the original prison walls.
