About Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park
This park in southeastern Georgia is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the state of Georgia and a favorite destination for visitors of all ages. Picnic tables and shelters surround a small lake where visitors can rent pedal boats and fishing boats in the warmer months.
Children can view the beaver dam from the observation deck and fishermen can use the berths. The golf course in the park has a pro shop with junior and senior rates, and a hotel is located near Reidsville on the US Highway. The unusual name Gordonia Alatamaha comes from the large number of beavers that once grew up in this park, as well as from the name of the national park.
