About Delabar State Park

Delabar State Park is located on the west side of the Delaware River, north of New York City, New Jersey, in the state of Delaware. Delabars State Park is currently about 500 meters from the river.

The park is named after brothers Roy and Jack Delabar, who donated the land to the state in 1959 to turn it into a state park. Many of the park's 89 acres are wooded with rugged oaks, birches and hickory trees, and the forest is home to a variety of animal species including deer, elk, elk, coyote, fox, raccoon, squirrel, bird, owl and other wildlife. More than 50 bird species have been identified, making Delaware one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Delaware.

The park officially opened in 1960 as a state park with the help of a grant from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Tents, trailers and pitches are available in the park, as well as a variety of other camping facilities such as campsites, cabins, tents and trailers. Trailers with camping gear, camping chairs, picnic tables and other amenities are also available in the Delaware State Park parking lot.

Campers must obtain permission from park staff before setting up the camp, and groups of 25 or more require prior permission from the building manager.

River fishing is very popular in Delabar State Park, and there is a marina in the park, but there are no boat rentals in the park. Boat engines of any size are not allowed on the river, and access to it is facilitated by a boat ramp at the northern end of the parking lot south of Lake Michigan. The marinas can be reached by boat or boat, as well as the boat rental station.

Delabar State Park is located on Gladstone Lake, a popular destination for anglers who prefer to fish on the lake. Gladstones Lake, 27 hectares in size, has an average depth of 1.8 metres and a maximum depth of 4 metres.

Three picnic areas are available, and all three are equipped with picnic tables and stoves. There is a picnic area for anglers, an outdoor fishing spot and a water park with playground.

The picnic area in the centre provides shelter for family celebrations, drinking water and toilets are available. The picnic areas are located in the parking lot and the playground is located near the picnic area in the middle of the park.

Nature lovers and game watchers can enjoy themselves on the two marked trails that lead to almost two kilometers of forest. Cooking fires is only allowed on stoves, and many visitors use the Mississippi River's back if the ice is thick enough.
