Chain O'Lakes State Park is located on the east side of the Fox River in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota, and is home to a number of water-oriented recreational areas. The park also includes a 44-acre lake within its boundaries and the park is connected to the Fox River, making it the second largest water park in Minnesota.

The park is located on the east side of the Fox River in the town of St. Paul, Minnesota, south of Interstate 94. Chain O'Lakes State Park, a state park with a number of water-oriented recreational areas and a 44-acre lake within its boundaries, is located at the northern end of Fox Lake, east of I-94 and north of US Highway 35.

Chain O'Lakes State Park is located in the heart of this water wonderland and is open every day except Christmas and all day on Christmas Day.

The park is open from 8 a.m. until sunset in winter and closed on Christmas Day, except Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. There is daylight saving time from 6 am to 9 pm and hunting is only possible by appointment. It is a great place to hunt from early November to mid-December and then again from late December to late January.

The lake is mainly made up of freshwater bogs and deep peat beds, and about 80 hectares of the park have been designated as a nature reserve to protect the unique plants associated with the area. The gently sloping moraine hills, some of which rise up to 200 feet, were deposited by the last Illinois glaciers.

Chain O'Lakes is a mix of oak, hickory and deciduous forests, and nature lovers will find a rich selection of wildflowers in spring, summer and autumn. The park also has rich colors that attract numerous visitors in autumn, such as orange, yellow, red, green, blue and red.

American Lotus once covered Grass Lake almost completely in summer, but the lake still covers an area of Lotus and attracts large crowds year-round, including boat trips.

Around 200 hectares of restored native prairies provide breeding habitats for grassland bird species. Some of the wildlife you are likely to encounter in the park are the blue heron, the great white shark and many other bird species.

The Chain O'Lakes region was inhabited for thousands of years by the central Algonquin tribe before the Europeans arrived in the area. A list of almost 200 birds identified in the park and further information on bird species are available from the park office.

The dominant tribes in the region at the time were the Miami, Mascouten and Potawatomi, but the dominant tribe in what is now Chain O'Lakes State Park was the Algonquin. Indian groups led a semi-mobile lifestyle, growing corn and collecting wild plants as fodder. The Joliet and Marquette crossed the Fox River, which they crossed into what is now Chain o'Lakes State Park before crossing into the Fox River to explore Illinois.

French trappers and traders were among the first Europeans to explore the area, and in the 1930s a warehouse for the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) became the Chain O'Lakes Conservation Area.

When the state of Illinois declared the Fox River a national park in 1945, Chain o'Lakes became a national park. The first European settlement stood on a large hill that towers over the prairie and was once a lookout for Indians.

The land originally belonged to a farmer who received the land in 1843 as part of a land grant, and in 1957 it was incorporated into the state park. In 1969, the National Park Service (NPS) purchased the farm and park for $1.5 million (now $2.2 million).

The park's concession stand is open from April to mid-October and offers a wide range of food and beverages as well as a variety of outdoor activities. Boat and canoe rentals are also available, but the necessary safety equipment must be rented by the concessionaire or provided by the user himself.

Rent for a non-refundable reservation fee that includes a one-time fee of $5 per person or $10 per day for groups of four or more.

There are no toilets in the cabins, and dogs and other pets are not allowed in the cabins or on the ground.

Alcohol is prohibited at all campsites and no one is allowed to pick up wood in the park, so campers must bring their own firewood or have a permit. Permits for adults over 18 years of age must be in place at the time of registration and must have accommodation. The maximum stay at a campsite is 14 nights over a period of 30 days, but all campers must have a permit.

For newcomers, Chain O'Lakes offers rent-a-camp units, and each campsite is equipped with a tent, stove, hotplate, fireplace, shower, toilet, showers and more.

Rent a tent is $32 and a maximum of eight people can rent, and dogs and other pets are not allowed on the campsite. The tent is charged a fee of $5 per person, $10 per day or $25 per week for a total of $100 per year.

There is no fee for starting a boat in the park, and electric towing is allowed, but there is a fee of $5 per person, $10 per day or $25 per week to use the boat. Any boat used on any of the Chain O'Lakes is subject to the fee and there are no limits on the number of boats that can be used at any time of the day on any of the three lakes, except for a maximum of four boats at a time.

Stickers are available at parking concession stands and on the jetty, but parks must comply with EPA guidelines.

Play equipment must comply with the park's rules and regulations, as well as state and federal regulations.

Reservations, fees or accommodation are not required, but groups of 25 or more must obtain written permission from the park office for picnics.

Chain O'Lakes has four ways: The Nature Way is 2 km long and starts at the Oak Grove picnic area.

The Pike Marsh North picnic area has paths that are specially designed for disabled users and are over half a mile long. In this park there were also a number of special events, such as picnics and events for children, as well as an annual picnic.

A 6 km (6 mile) cycle and hiking trail can be accessed from the park entrance, which is located at the end of the Oak Grove picnic area on the east side of Chain O'Lakes. Visitors can bring their own horses to enjoy the course, as well as go cycling and walking along the cycle path and hiking trail.

When the temperature drops and the ice thickens, ice skating and ice fishing are popular activities, as are snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

In the winter months cross-country skiers can use the horse trails and tobogganing is a popular winter sport. Snowmobiles have access to the frozen waters of the lakes, but snowmobiles are not allowed in the park. In winter, the park office serves as a warehouse for the warehouses, and snowshoeing, snow skating, ice skating and ice fishing are popular activities.

In summer, the park offers a variety of activities such as hiking, cycling, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, as well as fishing.
