About Pike Lake State Park

It is located in a glacier landscape that stretches from southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago, making it one of the largest lakes in the United States. The forest is named after the cauldron that feeds the water, and the lake itself, Pike Lake.

Powder Hill, a large glacier ridge, also offers great hiking and views. Pike Lake is open from the end of April to the third weekend in October and visitors can camp, swim, hike, cycle or camp in the grounds of the park.

The campsites have picnic tables, fireplaces and coasters, and there are a variety of outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking and snowmobiling.

Pitches 22 - 32 can be reserved by calling 888 - 947 - 2757. If you do not reserve a campsite, you can register on the basis of the First - come - first served. Apart from the 21 accessible pitches, none of the pitches have electricity, but all are reserved.

Two accommodations can be reserved for group activities by telephone or mail to the forest administration. The Pike Lake Unit has picnic tables and barbecues in the picnic area and two marked bathing areas. Fishermen can fish on the lake, as well as in the marked bathing and fishing areas, and there are several other species of wild fish that occur in and around the lakes.

Pike Lake offers several kilometers of hiking trails and nine different hiking trails offer a variety of topography and scenery. Hikers can cross the lake to Pike Lake State Park on the west side of the park.

The Astronomy Trail is a 1.5 km long path that takes hikers on a walk through the solar system.

The nature trail in the Black Forest is a self-guided trail, which has a length of about 1.5 kilometers.

Powder Hill is the second highest point in southeastern Wisconsin, and a 60-foot observation tower was erected to provide spectacular views. The hike to the Pulverberg is a 1.5-kilometre walk through the Black Forest with views of the Pulverberg and the lake.

The Pike Lake Unit also includes a section of the DNR Ice Age Trail that runs through the forest and the state. At the northern picnic area by the lake there is a Boardwalk Trail, and also on the lakeside there is a viewing platform.

The entrance to the forest is located at the northern end of Pike Lake State Park, on the south side of the lake. The entrance to DNR Ice Age Trail and Ice Age Trail is also located near the northern picnic area at Pike Lake, which is south of Lake Michigan, east of Pecan Lake. Pike Lakes is located in Pike County, Wisconsin, about 30 miles north of Milwaukee.

All motor vehicles entering the woods must have and purchase a Wisconsin State Park badge.

The sticker can be purchased at the entrance to the forest, on the south side of Pike Lake or at one of the picnic areas in the park.
