About Lake Macbride State Park

The park is divided into two units, the northern part is Lake MacBride State Park and the southern part of the park, Lake MacBride Park. It has a total area of 1.5 million square meters and had a population of about 2,000 people over the last 30 years.

The southern unit is located in the northern part of Lake MacBride State Park, north of the lake. It offers a wide range of natural resources such as waterfalls, lakes, rivers and streams. Here you will find a variety of fish species, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. The idea to establish the wooded valley between Mill and Jordan Creeks as a national park was born by the well-known conservationist Dr. John MacBride.

The land was sold to raise funds to purchase additional land for the park, and after several hundred submissions, the name was chosen. The park opened to the public in June 1937 and opened to the public on July 1, 1937 with the opening of Lake MacBride State Park in July 1937.

Thomas Macbride, a member of the Iowa Academy of Science, was known in Iowa as the "father of conservation." In 1895, he addressed a group of members of the Iowa Academy of Sciences about establishing a statewide system of rural parks. Thomas MacBride had a strong interest in the conservation of natural resources and nature.

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built a number of facilities on Lake Macbride in the 1930s, including a beautiful stone shelter and a beach building. In 1955, the lake was expanded to include a new beach, picnic area and swimming pool.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has created Lake Macbride State Park, one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. In addition to the two campsites on the beach and the picnic area by the pool, Lake Macbrides State Park also has two RV parks.

The modern campsites in the northern part of the park have drag-points, and both have access to the lake and picnic area, as well as the beach, picnic areas and pool.

The campsite is located in a beautiful shady area near the lake and has a playground nearby. It is a great place for a picnic, with access to the beach, picnic area and pool, as well as the playground.

Half of the campsites are still open for camping, with the "first come, first served" theme, but reservations for each campsite can be made online on the Lake Macbride State Park Facebook page.

Macbride Beach is a great place for young and old to cool off on a hot summer day, but swimming is limited to the designated beach area. Lake Macbride offers swimming and refreshments on the beautiful beach, as well as a variety of activities for children and adults.

There are seven boat ramps on the lake, and on the beach you can rent pontoons, motor boats, canoes and pedal boats. The boat rental number is 319 - 624 - 2315, or contact the Lake Macbride State Park office for more information.

From May 21 to September 7, Lake Macbride has an engine limit of 10 hp, but at other times you can also operate an unrestricted engine limit at zero-day speeds. At Coralville Lake you can use any engine size, and pontoon berths and dry storage for your boat are available.

Lake Macbride is a fishing delight, and anglers can enjoy the 812-hectare artificial lake. Every year, catfish and musk fish are caught in the lake, as well as a variety of other fish species such as trout, perch, Valais, pike, snapper, redfish, salmon, trout and more.

Lake Macbride is perhaps the only lake in Iowa where you can catch the precious Kentucky spotted perch, and it is home to the largest perch lake in the world, the Great Lakes perch. Lake MacBride State Park is one of the most popular fishing and boating parks in Iowa. Four open picnic huts are available, or you can reserve them for a fee through the park manager. Access to and from the lake is good for coastal fishing, but not for recreational fishing or other recreational activities.

Day cabins are also available and ideal for family gatherings, but to reserve a cabin, contact the park manager for more information.
