About Elk City State Park

Thick oak and hickory forest meet meadows, and a federally recognized pathway system invites visitors to explore Elk City State Park, one of the largest state parks in the United States. The park, bordered by Elk City Road, Elks River Road and Elk River, offers a variety of opportunities for nature lovers to enjoy their pastime.

The Elk River Trail is a scenic 15 mile route that starts at the western edge of the dam and ends at a picnic spot on the north side of Elks River Road, just east of Elk City Road. The Green Thumb Nature Trail, is a 1.5 km loop starting from a campsite in the National Park and winding through a forest of framed ash and oak trees. An attraction in this park is also the Elk State Park Nature Center, a 1,000-acre nature center with a variety of outdoor activities and activities for children.

The campsites in Elk City offer good - shady places that are attractive for recreational vehicles and primitive campers. Parking is available in the parking lot on Elk River Road and in the parking lot of the campground, and convenient toilets and showers are a popular convenience for park visitors.

Bordering Elk City to the north, south, west, east and west of the park, Elk City offers a rich array of wild residents.
