About Nolin Lake State Park

Nolin Lake is popular with boaters and anglers alike, and campers will enjoy the new Nolin Lakes Campground.

Nolin Lake State Park opened to the public in May 2001 and is an excellent place for camping and fishing. The 5,500-acre lake, created in 1963 by the seizure of the Nolin River, is located on the east side of Nolin Lake, south of Lake Michigan, and the park has two campgrounds, one on the lake and one in the State Park itself.

The area around Nolin Lake State Park is topographically diverse and the lake has a variety of lakes, rivers and streams as well as a number of streams and rivers. The beach, showers, launderettes and playgrounds are the main attractions of the State Park, along with the two campgrounds of the Park.

Mammoth Cave is the largest explored cave system in the world, and millions of visitors have explored over 340 miles of known passages. Edmonson County is part of the cave country, Mammoth Cave National Park covers 51,000 hectares, and Mammoths Cave National Park covers over 1.5 million square miles, roughly the size of Texas.

John Edmondson of Virginia was killed in the Battle of the Rosin River in 1812, and Edmonson County was founded on January 12, 1825 and named in honor of his son, Captain John Edmonson.

The county has the Nolin and Green Rivers flowing within its borders, and there is a small creek, the Edmondson River, as well as the Rosin River. Edmonson is an area of hilly terrain that gives way to steep hills in some places, but there are many scenic views of the Ohio River and its tributaries in the county.

Nearby there is a playground and three places have been converted for disabled people, but pets are not allowed or kept in the park.

Perch, whale, catfish and crappie are the price of a catcher, but no Kentucky fishing license is required. There are no toilets or bathrooms in the park, except for the toilets at the entrance to the parking lot and the picnic area by the lake.

Picnic tables and barbecues are located in the picnic area, and a picnic shelter can be rented. There are no toilets in any of the office buildings, but there is a toilet at the entrance to the parking lot and the parking office building, as well as a toilet in a neighboring building.

The route is suitable for moderate exercise, so make sure you have proper hiking boots and water, and it is open all year round, with a small waterfall if the conditions are right.
