About Freetown-Fall River State Forest
The Freetown State Forest is a collection of public lands acquired over a period of 20 years from the 1930s onwards by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and the California Department of Natural Resources.
The Klapperbach, which winds through a large part of the property, is stocked with brown trout in spring, hunters and anglers are welcome in all seasons. There is a paddling pool at the main entrance and the rest of the forest offers over 50 km of dirt roads and paths. If you live in or near the area, Freetown Fall River State Forest offers hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking and a variety of other recreational activities.
The 541 hectares of forest also includes the 227 hectare Watuppa Reserve, owned by the Wampanoag Nation. The Freetown State Forest is located in southeastern Massachusetts and is represented in the profile of Chief Massasoit, who was considered a member of the New England Native Americans as Chief of Mass and the first Chief of Massachusetts, as shown in this profile.
Keep left on South Main Street and take Rte. North to Freetown Fall River State Forest and left onto SouthMain Street, then right onto Watuppa Reserve and then left again onto North Street.
At the four corners of Rte turn left. 1 and turn left on South Main Street and right on Watuppa Reserve and then left again on North Street, then right into the woods.
