About Myles Standish State Park

Myles Standish State Forest stretches over the southern part of Plymouth and Carver and is one of the largest national parks in the state of New Hampshire and the second largest in New England. It is well maintained and offers picnics, swimming, fishing and canoeing, and parts of a pond area are reserved for equestrian camping. MSSF offers five campsites, located on a 2 hectare plot, one on the north and two on the south side, as well as a small private plot.

On the coastal plain, Myles Standish State Forest has several ecologically significant boiler ponds. The banks of the ponds are extremely sensitive to trampling, and the riding paths and horse riding trails of the park lead visitors through the forest, which includes a path from the parking lot to the pond area and the path for the horse trail.

Please respect the unique natural qualities of the park and observe the barrier signs indicating sensitive areas and the warning signs at the entrance to the boiler ponds.

Hunting is prohibited during the season, but there are wild birds, and in summer we help visitors to get acquainted with the various bird species and their habitats. 4x4s are allowed on the main road of the park and at the main entrance to Myles Standish State Park, south of the parking lot.

Myles Standish State Forest is located in southeastern Massachusetts, south of the city of Myles, Massachusetts. Take Rte. 1 to the north and then take Rtes.

Myles Standish State Forest is one of the largest national parks in Massachusetts, with over 1,000 acres of forest and over 2,500 miles of hiking trails.
