About Baraga State Park

Baraga State Park overlooks picturesque Keweenaw Bay and Lake Superior on the west side of Lake Michigan, south of the city of Baraga, Michigan. Camping is possible on 118 lawns and in the park's mini-cabins, and there are many activities offered in the park, such as hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, camping and fishing.

Stay at the Tipi Kitchigami costs $5 per person or $10 per day for an overnight stay in one of the park's mini huts.

Tipi Kitchigami is open from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends, from 5.30 pm to 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and from 6 pm to 10: 45 pm on weekdays.

The campsite gazebo is the site of many events in the park, and the picnic shelter provides an outlet for lighting the evening programs. The picnic hut is covered with a canopy over the lake, overlooking Lake Superior and a picnic area. Trout, perch and salmon are found in the local streams and in Lake Duluth and in the local lakes.

The hiking trails offer the opportunity to contemplate the winter landscape, but the trails are not prepared for cross-country skiing. The trails are not prepared for cross-country skiing and the head of the trails is only accessible with snowshoes.

Baraga State Park is located in Baraga County, Michigan, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit and offers magnificent views of Keweenaw Bay and Lake Superior. The park is a popular destination for camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and other outdoor activities. Lake Huron Falls and attractions related to the KEWeenaws Bay Indian Community are just a few of the attractions in Baragas County.
