About Algonac State Park

Algonac State Park covers 1,500 hectares and has a total area of about 2,000 hectares. One of the park's main attractions is a 1.5-mile-long, 2-mile-wide hiking trail that offers scenic views of Lake Ontario, the Great Lakes and the Hudson River. It is home to rare habitats and a variety of wildlife such as wild boars, elks, elks, deer, wolves, coyotes, foxes, pheasants, raccoons, ducks, turkeys, geese, birds, squirrels, turtles, lizards and much more.

The park is open year-round for a variety of activities, including camping and day trips, and archery and trapping are possible. Two campsites are available along the waterfront and on the carriage wheel, as well as a picnic area with picnic shelters and toilets to behave during the day.

The prairie of savannas and oaks in the Algona lakes is considered to be of worldwide importance. It contains endangered, threatened and endangered wild flower species such as the Great Blue Egret, American Red Deer, Large Smoked Owl, Black Hawk, White-tailed Falcon and Black-legged Falcon.

The sanitary facilities are open all year round and water is available in the main office in winter. You can pitch your tent at any time of the year, whether you are camping, hiking, fishing or camping in the park.

The prairies of Algona Lakes, Savannahs and Oaks are of global importance and host endangered and endangered species, especially endangered wild flowers and species. To get to the northwest from the park, take 94 to 23 Mile Road, take Exit 243 and head north on Interstate 94 until you reach the entrance to State Park.
