About Lakeport State Park

Lakeport State Park is located on Lake Huron and provides access to the Great Lakes for residents of southeastern Michigan. The park consists of two separate units separated by the village of Lakeport, and a total of 250 pitches are spread over two campsites.

For families who want to enjoy camping but do not have a tent or camper, there are also campers and cabins in the park. Lakeport State Park takes a different approach to camping than most other parks in Michigan. The pitches have been rearranged to behave more like a campsite, with easier-to-level pitches and more comfortable sleeping areas.

Each cottage sleeps six and has three rooms with electric heating, and each cottage has its own bathroom, kitchen, dining room, shower, bath and shower.

The living room and kitchen are equipped with storage rooms for dishes and supplies and in addition to the usual prices they also sell firewood. Outside, the cottages have access to a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic benches and picnic chairs. One of the few remaining storage rooms is the largest on the campsite, with kitchen, dining room, bathroom, shower and shower, and a large outdoor fireplace.

There is a day use area, which is located one mile south of the campsite and is also bounded by Lake Huron. It offers a variety of amenities including picnic tables, a picnic area and a beach. Visitors can enjoy the beach, but there is no access to the campsite, only a small parking lot with parking garage.

The US-25 highway runs through the park and divides the daily usage area into two areas. A pedestrian overpass allows daily users access to both areas, but not to the daily use area.

Each camp has different play equipment for the little ones, and reservations are possible in the park (810 - 327 - 6224). Rent a picnic hut in the day area or camp in one of the picnic huts in Lakeport State Park.

For buyers, Birchwood Mall is about five miles south of the park, and the Port Huron State Game Area is a 15-minute drive away and offers year-round hiking and hunting. For fishing and boating enthusiasts, there are two managed boat moorings in the state, Lakeport State Park and Lakeland State Beach, as well as a boat parking lot.

Lakeport State Park and Lakeland State Beach are located about half a mile south of Birchwood Mall, and the Port Huron State Game Area is about two miles north of the park.
