The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks has announced that Parker Homestead will no longer be a state park. Citing budgetary constraints, the FWP has refused to extend the lease on the one hectare park when its 25-year-old lease expires on 1 January. From a fiscal perspective, the outlook is not particularly rosy. Frankly, we have struggled to manage the site, which has a lot of potential for economic development and a lot of natural beauty, "Steve Schulte, the FWP's director of state parks and recreation, said Wednesday.

Parker Homestead is located on a private property owned by a local family on the outskirts of Helena, Montana. The covered huts are frontier homes built by thousands of pioneers who settled in Montana at the beginning of the 20th century. They are a symbol of these beginnings and one of our last remaining farms, "said Bill Schulte, director of the FWP's state parks and amusement parks.

The huts were built at the turn of the century by pioneers of the late 19th century who came to Montana from Utah. The farm was used for many years before it became a state park in 1985, Schulte said.

The rooftop log cabins were simple border homes that provided shelter for hopeful pioneers who settled in Montana. The golf course and museum in Three Forks are nearby and a small park has been created just across the road, a few hundred metres from the cottages.

Parker Homestead State Park is located on the west side of the Yellowstone River, north of Three Forks, Montana. The size of the vehicles is limited to cars, but it is a great place for hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, as well as camping.
