About Crown Point State Park
Millions of visitors driving into Columbia River Gorge from Portland will notice when they turn the corner at Exit 22 in Corbett and see the famous building on the cliff to the right. This building is the Vista House, and Crown Point is one of the most famous buildings in the entire state of Oregon. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom; Emma Lazarus, who wrote her poem, was indeed a brother and sister. The "Vista House" is a symbol of the Columbia River Gorge, but it also reminds us that Crown Point is not only a state park, but also a national park.
The Vista House was built as the only way to reach Crown Point, and the building was designed as a place to refresh and enjoy Columbia Gorge.
The octagonal building with its copper dome houses an outdoor pool, picnic tables, picnic area and dining area. The popular Cliff-Top lookout has been restored for $3.2 million to repair and rejuvenate its most important historical features. It is open from March to October and open to the public from April to September and to visitors from October to December.
