About Rooster Rock State Park

Spring at Rooster Rock is one of the places where spring fever breaks out: on the first sunny day of spring, people suddenly report being sick at work or school, and then the parking lots fill up.

Imagine the excitement of those first warm, sunny days of spring as you mingle with your friends, family, colleagues - workers, friends of friends, even strangers. Spring in Hahn Rock is the place where "spring fever" has broken out.

They are like peas and carrots - they just go together and are just as much a part of the rooster's coat as peas and carrots.

It is even more natural to go to Rooster Rock State Park, where you will find a designated nude beach. The nudist beach is completely separated from the clothing and no clothes are required in the area. It is one of the largest swimming areas in Portland, serving visitors who want a nature experience. This three kilometre long sandy beach is made for swimming en masse, but also a great place to watch for visitors who want to experience nature.

Covered picnic blankets and tables serve families and groups of all sizes, and the area exists harmoniously alongside other areas of the park, such as the river, stream or forest.

The ramp of the Hahnenfelsen is located on the south side of the river, directly on the Hahnenfelsenstraße, near the entrance to the threatened forest. Here you will find a picnic area with picnic tables, picnic chairs and picnic benches. Autumn colours blaze in Hannenfelsen and the sun shines through the trees in the park.

Black - Tailed deer and swordgrass mushrooms grow on the beautiful forest meadows along the way. The trail is covered with giant maples and oaks and leads you on a flat hike over the Columbia River. This easy hike is recommended for people with a high level of fitness and adventurous spirit, especially for small children.

Winter at Rooster Rock State Park can be challenging, but I love living on the edge and know windsurfers. They come here in winter when others stay away and know it's cold and windy, so they love it.

In winter, wind speeds of 110 km / h were measured at Rooster Rock, and when it sweeps through Columbia Gorge, windsurfers come out of the woods to ride the Whitecaps on the Columbia River. In winter, the Hahnenfelsen becomes the gateway to winter recreation in the cascades of the gorge.

A two-year permit is good for a day in the national park, with usable space for up to three days of hiking, camping or other outdoor activities.

The park has a designated area for dogs and cats, as well as horses and other animals that must be kept on a leash.
