About Emigrant Spring State Park

Located at the top of the Blue Mountains, the Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area offers visitors the opportunity to explore this popular pioneer stop on the Oregon Trail. The park is surrounded by old, growing forest and the horse camp is closed in winter, so bring your horse.

Please note that although there are limited horse riding trails in this park, most of the rides take place on an adjacent property.

If you are not equipped for traditional camping, you can also rent one of the cabins for the night. Bring a group and camp in the cabin for up to four people for a total of four nights for $50 per person or $100 per day.

The Totem Cabin (side A) sleeps four people in two bunk beds, and the side B offers three people with a bunk bed for a total of four nights for $50 per person or $100 per day. Totem cabins (sides A and B) can accommodate up to four people with two bunk beds.

The cabins are available all year round, but larger groups want to rent the community centre, so bring an infusion and check your current schedule when you arrive at your campsite. Take a walk along the nature trails, visit the Oregon Trail Exhibition in the park, take part in an evening program at the amphitheater, play on a full-size basketball court, or meet up with friends and enjoy a winter getaway. Bring a picnic, food, drink and water for the infusions and take walks along the nature trails.

Experience the life of a 19th-century Chinese emigrant with Pendleton Underground Tours or explore the cross-country walk through the Oregon Trail Exhibition at the park's visitor center.

Bring your snowmobile and enjoy the scenic views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from the park's parking lot. Visit one of the many Sno - Sno parks, which offer hiking, cycling, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Other destinations in and around the parks include the Grand Canyon Trail, Cascade - Siskiyou National Forest, Mount Hood National Monument and Oregon Trail.
