Presque Isle State Park

About Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park is a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that stretches across Lake Erie and whose geological, biological and historical significance will be of interest. The park's location on Lake Cleveland and its proximity to it make it a popular place for bird migration. Presque Island is the recurring sand tip that stretches into Lake Ohio and has the only surfing beach in the Commonwealth.

The road network through the park forms a loop of about 13 miles that can be reached by PA Route 832 or by boat.

The bay attracts many recreational boats and freighters, making Erie an important port on the Great Lakes. The park is part of Presque Isle State Park, one of the largest state parks in Pennsylvania. This area is home to a number of lakes, rivers and other waterways, as well as a variety of animal and plant habitats.

Presque Isle is also part of a national natural monument bounded by Lake Erie, the Delaware River and the Allegheny River.

The Presque Isle State Park has something for everyone, whether you enjoy sandy beaches, study ecological diversity or explore the historic significance of the peninsula. As Pennsylvania's only seaside resort, it offers visitors many recreational activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, boating and much more. Presque Island is home to more than 1,000 bird species, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds of prey and amphibians, and hosts the largest and most diverse collection of endangered species in the world. With its many unique habitats, Presqe Isle is a sanctuary for many of America's more endangered and endangered species, including the Great Blue Egret, Great White Shark, Atlantic Salmon and many others.

There are four launch sites in Presque Isle State Park that can accommodate various ship sizes. The Niagara launch pad has two ramps and can accommodate small and medium-sized boats, but we recommend the Vista launch pad only for larger boats with a maximum capacity of three or four boats.

The launch site at Westpier is the largest facility with four runways and is recommended for larger ships. The area around the start of the lagoon offers space for small and medium-sized boats, but fluctuations in the lake level can affect the launch procedures. You can rent various boats throughout the park, such as kayaks, canoes and pedal boats.

You can find all of these locations on the Presque Isle State Park website, or you can find the location on this map, as well as the park's Facebook page and Twitter account.

Several picnic pavilions can be rented, which can accommodate 30 - 200 people, but reservations must be made in advance by calling 888 - PA - PARKS. Any pavilion that is not reserved is on - serve, so please reserve in advance by calling, 8888 - pa - parksS, and make a reservation.
