About Clear Creek State Park

The Clear Creek State Park covers more than 2,000 acres (1.5 square miles) and stretches from PA 949 to the Clarion River in the picturesque Clear Creek Valley. The first public campground at Clear Creek opened in 1922, and the Civil Protection Corps (CCC) expanded recreational facilities significantly in May 1933.

When I left in 1937, I built a cabin and yurt in Clear Creek State Park for my wife and two young children. You must rent a cabin or yurt for a week during the spring and autumn season, and you can also rent it for up to three weeks during the summer and autumn season.

One of the cabins can accommodate up to eight people and can accommodate six people, and one of them can accommodate four people. One cabin can accommodate eight people, the other can accommodate up to six.

The other cabins and yurts can accommodate up to four people, one of whom can accommodate six people and the other four.

The huts are heated by a wood-burning stove, and the yurts use electric heat, but the huts do not, according to the park's website.

Two shower houses are nearby, and toilet flushing and sanitation facilities are available, according to the park's website. Frost - free taps are outside and 53 tents and trailers of all places are available in the beautiful forest landscape.

The area is open from 10 am to 5 pm. M. on weekends and from 9 a., 17: 30 and 21: 45 p. m., weekdays and from 12 to 16 p. m., Saturdays and Sundays.

Next to the campsite, there is also a 180-foot sandy beach open on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 5: 30 p.m. to 9: 45 p.m. M. Saturdays and Sundays. The access is not guaranteed in severe winter weather, so call the park office to check the weather.

The beach is located on a small man-made lake, so swim at your own risk and swim in the shallow waters of the lake.

The Clarion River offers excellent canoeing opportunities, especially in spring and autumn. A popular river canoeing trip, which takes about 4-5 hours, is the Cooks River Canoeing Course. The river is accessible by boat for this class, but it is also popular for kayaking, rafting and fishing.

Canoe rental is available throughout the park from commercial sources, but a boat launch permit is required. Canoe starting points are also available at Clarion River Cottages on the south side of Clear Creek State Park.

Five picnic pavilions can be reserved for $11 per month plus an advance booking fee, and there is an unreserved picnic pavilion. Picnic pavilions are open from 11 am to 4 pm on weekends and public holidays. The park has been managed by the Clear Creek State Park Board of Trustees for 30 years.

During the summer months, environmental educators offer guided hikes to the campsites and are also available to explain and interpret the natural phenomena of the park. Visitor centre and lumberjack exhibition are open from 9 am to 5 pm in spring and autumn and in winter months.

The Ox Shoe Self Guide Trail takes about an hour and is very popular with hikers who want to discover the history of logging in the Black Forest.

The Ox Shoe Self Guide Trail leads through the Black Forest on the east side of Clear Creek State Park, south of the Oxshoe Loop Trail.

Bear Town Rocks offers scenic views of the surrounding area and another large state park with mature trees is just 11 km away. This area borders Clear Creek State Park and covers a large area in the Black Forest, the largest forest in the state of New York. For more information, please contact the U.S. Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection at (855) 888-5555.

This large, 506,465-acre area is the only national forest in Pennsylvania and offers general outdoor recreation. The town of Brookville is just 12 miles away, and Exit 78 (old Exit 12) will take you to 80 West, just a few miles south of Clear Creek.
