About Old Stone Fort State Park

The State Archaeological Park is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of Old Stone Fort State Park and its surroundings. The visitor centre and exhibition complex includes a museum with history, archaeology and legend around the site of the area's first settlement, the Old St. John's River Valley. In addition to improved educational and entertainment programs for children and adults, this park also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, kayaking and much more.

Old Stone Fort is located in the Old St. John's River Valley, north of the city of St. John's and within the boundaries of Old Fort State Park.

It consists of a series of hills and walls that connect cliffs with the river, forming a protected area.

It is said to have served as a central ceremonial meeting place for around 500 years and has since been redesigned for leisure use.

The Old Stone Fort Golf Course is one of 8 golf courses operated by the State of Tennessee. The course was built in 1973 and was known as Manchester Country Club until it was bought by the state.

Tee was rebuilt in 1995 and the irrigation system modernized, and the old Steinfort recently completed a new golf shop and opened its new facilities in the fall of 1998. The course is located in a wooded area with mature trees that surround each hole, and a variety of lawns around the holes.

The hardwood forests are located on all 9 holes, and there are practice greens for practice and a practice green for practice. The course is a favorite of everyone in the area, with no tee times, but it has water to contend with on 3 of the holes. From I / 24, take Highway 53 to Exit 110 (Southwest) and follow signs to Old Stone Fort State Park.
