About Henry Horton State Park

Henry Horton State Park covers 1,140 acres and is located in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee.

The park is located on the banks of the historic Duck River and offers a variety of hiking, camping, fishing, picnic and hiking trails as well as hiking and biking trails. The visitor center, picnic area, hiking trail, parking lot and picnic area of the park are located at the southern end of Henry Horton Park, north of downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, just a few miles from the Tennessee River.

Our golf course is located about 45 minutes from downtown Nashville and we are located on US Highway 31A in Nashville. Head south on I-65, follow signs to State Park and head north on Interstate 65 until you reach the south of Tennessee State Parkway.

Henry Horton State Park offers access to the Duck River, which has been described as the most scenic river in the state. There is a large group area for primitive camping and there are twenty individual places, although primitive places are recommended for tents only.

The other 54 pitches have tables, barbecues, water cones and electricity, and campers can also watch from one of the many picnic tables on the campsite.

Campers can set up camp in the open space or camp at one of the many picnic tables in the park, and seasonal campers and park rangers can visit the site to register as users. The campsites are available on a first-come basis with a maximum of four per camper per day, day and weekend.

The length of stay can be up to two weeks, with a maximum of three days per week and a minimum of four days per week in the summer months.

The Horton Inn has 72 units, including four suites and a kitchenette, and each unit has two double beds. Each room is carpeted and the inn has a basement, but some units have two double beds and some three or four single beds in the same room.

The restaurant also serves a complimentary continental breakfast daily, lunch and dinner on weekdays and a buffet breakfast on weekends.

The swimming pool is open from Memorial week to Labor Day, and the room is also accessible for the disabled. Olympic pool, bath house and concession stand, the park has a number of improvements to its facilities, such as the addition of an outdoor dining area and a new parking lot.

The pool area offers plenty of space for sunbathing, and for the little ones there is a paddling pool. Lifeguards are in use during swimming hours, registered cabin guests swim free of charge. Guests of the campsite can swim with a camping permit at a discounted price or register for free and swim at any time of the day.

Henry Horton has 4 large picnic pavilions for groups equipped with barbecues and water cones.

Picnic accommodations are available on reservation only.
