About Long Hunter State Park

Long Hunter State Park is located on the shores of J. Percy Priest Lake and consists of two campsites, a picnic area, an amphitheater and water park, and a hiking trail.

Park visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and water park activities. Plan your trip to Long Hunter State Park for a full day of outdoor activities and activities for children.

A small fee is required for overnight stays, but prior reservation is not required, and the lakeside areas can be reserved for up to three nights.

Unsupervised swimming is allowed in Bryant Grove, but the bottom of the lake is dangerous and you must swim at your own risk. Swimming in Couchville Lake or the boat ramp area is prohibited, as is unsupervised swimming in the creek, creek bed or on the lakeside. No unsupervised swimming is permitted in Bryant and Grove, nor is swimming in the area of the lakeside deck or on boat ramps.

Leisure boating and water skiing are popular in Long Hunter State Park and other state parks in the area. Long Hunter offers a variety of leisure activities including kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking and camping.

There is a private boat launch pad at Couchville Lake, and boats can also be rented in the parking lot of Long Hunter State Park on New Haven Lake.

Bryant Grove is located in the central parking lot and offers a variety of outdoor activities including picnics, hiking, fishing, camping and hiking. The park offers two large picnic shelters, one on Couchville Lake and the other on New Haven Lake, both on the north side of the park, south of Couch County Road.

Picnic areas can be reserved and the park will start booking accommodation on January 1. All accommodations are convenient toilets and all picnic shelters are accessible from Couchville Lake and New Haven Lake, each with a convenient toilet.

There are several hiking trails in Long Hunter that are designed to provide a pleasant hiking experience for everyone. Some of the more popular are Lake Trail and Couchville Lake, but there are also some popular short walks. The lake path is a self-guided nature trail, and the New Haven Lake Trail, just a short walk from the main entrance to the park, is also popular for shorter walks.

The New Haven Lake Trail, Couchville Lake and Long Hunter State Park Trail are all accessible from the park's main entrance.

For the adventurous, the Backerhain nature adventure area offers a variety of hiking trails, a picnic area and an outdoor recreation area. This path climbs steep slopes and winds along the shores of J. Percy Priest Lake. It can be hiked from the park's main entrance to Couchville Lake.

The longer Bryant Grove Trail connects BryantGrove to Couchville and the longer New Haven Lake Trail to the lake.

Over the years, our outdoor courses have been designed to teach children at home in Nashville and the surrounding area. Our courses focus on learning practice and interdisciplinary research, as well as a variety of outdoor activities for children and adults.

Take I-24 East to Old Hickory Boulevard and walk to the main parking lot and park in the parking lot on the right side of the street.
