About David Crockett State Park

David Crockett State Park was inaugurated on July 1, 2016 in honor of David Crockett's 100th birthday. David Crocksett was a pioneer of the soldier, politician, and industrialist movement who was born on April 4, 1842, in a suburb of Charleston, South Carolina, the son of a slave owner.

In 1817, he moved to Lawrence County and served in the U.S. Army, first as an officer and later as a colonel. He built a diverse industry, consisting of a powder mill, a grill mill and a distillery, but a flood washed away all three businesses in September 1821.

Financial difficulties and losses prompted Crockett to move to West Tennessee, where he was elected to Congress. In Washington, he fought to keep the people who had settled the land on the new border with western Tennessee. He died in 1821 after helping Texans in their struggle for independence from Mexico.

The two campsites in the park consist of two small, self-contained drilling rigs, each equipped with a two-storey bathhouse and a one-room hut. The bathhouses offer hot showers, dressers and toilets, and each campsite provides a basis for the first - come, first - service.

The maximum duration of stay is two weeks, with a maximum of four days at the campsite and a minimum of three days at each of the two campsites.

On the main campsite of the park there is a large swimming pool that can accommodate up to 30 campers. The swimming pool is open from Memorial Day until late summer and lifeguards are in use during swimming hours. For children there is plenty of lawn and paddling pool, and the pool with its deep, shallow water offers some of the most beautiful water fun.

The park operates boat rentals, and pedal boats can be rented from Memorial Day until the end of August. You can rent fishing boats all year round, as well as kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and kayaks from June to August and from July to September.

Private boats with engines are allowed on the lake, but fishermen must have a towed engine and not privately owned or privately owned motor boats.

Lindsey Lake, 40 hectares, offers year-round fishing and visitors can expect a variety of fish species, such as bluefish, redfish, trout, perch, whale eye, pike, catfish and trout. Fishing is allowed anywhere on the shore of the lake, as well as boat fishing. All fishermen under 13 have a valid Tennessee fishing permit, but no more than one boat per day.

The park has seven picnic huts that can accommodate between 25 and 100 people, and reservations are accepted one year in advance.

There are also several individual picnic areas, and each picnic area is equipped with a barbecue, as well as picnic tables, picnic chairs, picnic table and barbecue.

During the summer months, naturalists and leisure managers are on duty, as well as a variety of activities for children and adults such as canoeing, kayaking, hiking and camping.

The Week - the long event starts on June 29 and runs until June 30, offering a wide range of activities for children and adults as well as family-friendly activities.

The David Crockett Days are an annual event, and this year (13-14) the celebration is scheduled for August 15, 2004.

It may take a few moments until the movie is downloaded, but while you wait, enjoy the memories and games. Enjoy this video of the David Crockett Day celebration in the park, created in Flash, available for download here.
