About Snow Canyon State Park

Red Navajo sandstone covered by a layer of black lava rock makes Snow Canyon State Park one of the most beautiful places in the United States. The park is particularly attractive for its scenic views and proximity to the Grand Canyon and Colorado River.

The strikingly colorful gorge is 11 miles northwest of St. George, and two young volcanic cones are at the head of the canyon.

A winding asphalt road at the foot of the gorge is ideal for hiking, jogging, cycling and rollerblading. Facilities include a group pavilion, which extends over a 1,000 square metre car park with picnic area, picnic tables, water fountain and playground.

This path is the only one of the banks of the park and leads through a narrow, carved gorge. The arch extends over 200 feet, and the path leads to a small waterfall with a fountain, picnic tables, waterfalls and picnic area.
